The Department of Labor has awarded DevTech a contract to undertake the final performance evaluation of the Project to Reduce Child Labor and Improve Working Conditions in Agriculture in the Dominican Republic (FORMITRA).

In the Dominican Republic, an estimated 304,000 children are engaged in child labor.  FORMITRA supports the Dominican government’s efforts to combat child labor and strengthen labor law enforcement while helping businesses prevent, detect, and eliminate labor abuses in the agriculture sector. Building off the commitment of the Ministry of Labor and of a growing number of businesses, the project helps promote supply chains free of exploitative labor and a fair playing field for workers in the U.S. and around the world.

As part of FORMITRA’s final evaluation, DevTech will assess whether the project has achieved its objectives, identify the challenges encountered in doing so, and analyze the driving factors for these challenges.
